An addendum: The next day, they followed up on the work they had provided and even helped me process a credit and exchange with another business. I feel very confident in their expertise and very valued as a customer. They are certainly worth the stars and ratings that led me to them in the first place.
I took my car in for a steering column repair. Parts had been discontinued so they offered to look for salvage parts. My car is up and running for 1/3 the cost of going thru a dealership. I highly recommend Ken Scales especially for women. You won't be sorry.
If you need your vehicle worked on and are willing to pay a fair price without the risk of being ripped off I highly recommend Ken Scale Automotive.
(About 16 years now).
Ken Scales has always been honest and only fixed what needed repair. They don't ever push or upsell things that your car doesnt need. This alone, is so appreciated.
They have very fair pricing and always get us in right away for repairs. We usually work with Mike, which is GREAT at his job. He is very knowledgeable and always calls us ahead to let us know what the problems are and how much it will cost before they do the work. No surprise totals, which is nice to be able to prepare for ahead of time. Mike has even taken the time in the past to show us our parts after the repairs were complete, to see the condition they were in. ????????
Its so nice to have a company in the valley who is this honest, backs their work and has great customer service. ???? Ken Scales is a perfect example of how businesses should treat their customers. Especially in the automotive industry. Amazing service with a great crew. So grateful for the peace of mind and affordability. ????
You have a customer for life!
The last dealer I went to in Southern California was all frills. It was DCH Toyota of Oxnard, a large facility. Lots of polished floors, complimentary coffee and cookies, and guys in shiny ties who sounded like they’ve just stepped out of a car commercial. But these were the guys who robbed me. I’d left money in my Camry by accident. Someone at DCH Toyota rummaged through all of my compartments and snatched every cent. When I complained, I couldn’t get anyone to contact me. No one cared.
These big dealers pay their employees badly, treat them badly, and make it necessary for them to rob you. Bad, bad business wearing a shiny proverbial tie.
Now, Ken Scales provides a different experience. He seems like small potatoes. Small office, smallish shop, not especially refined customer service, the coffee wasn’t brewed, and they were out of hand towels in the bathroom. I never would have patronized his business had a friend not recommended them.
Y’know what? You can keep the hand towels, and I’ll buy my own coffee—go to DCH Toyota for the pretty shop and the false integrity. Ken Scales and his staff are no-nonsense, honest mechanics. They will tell you what your vehicle needs, they won’t try to sell you what it doesn’t, and when they do provide servicing, they won’t charge you unreasonable prices.
Mike, who handled my 2010 Chevy Express cargo van, didn’t upsell me. I trusted and respected him to such a degree that I upsold myself. I will be returning to him for my maintenance needs--and I live in California! I’ve finally found a great mechanic, and I’m stickin’ with him.
So many people complain about how they can’t find an honest mechanic. So many people, like me, get taken advantage of. Well, this is the word of mouth you’ve been looking for. Especially if you’re ignorant about cars, you should take your business to Ken Scales.
You’ll know you’re in the right place when you spot their mascot, Rich—a yellow parakeet—singing in the office.
